Apel do Premiera Rządu Kanady

The Hon. Stephen Harper

Prime Minister of Canada

Office of the Prime Minister

Ottawa, ON K1A 0A2

August 3rd. 2014

Dear Mr. Harper

On behalf of many Poles living in Canada, members of Clubs of Gazeta Polska, and those associated in many Polish-Canadian organizations, but also on behalf of all Polish citizens, who have not been told the truth about the causes of the crash of the government TU 154M aircraft near Smolensk on April 10th, 2010, we appeal to the Prime Minister of Canada and to the Canadian Government for help. Please support our demand for the truth about the real causes of the Smolensk disaster, which can only be determined by an independent international commission.

On April 10th, 2010 a Tupolev aircraft (TU-154M) carrying an official delegation of government representatives, top army generals and Polish citizens headed by the Polish President Lech Kaczynski and his wife, Maria, was probably targeted with an explosion by unidentified persons just before landing at the Smolensk airport in Russia. All 96 people on board died. For unknown and to this day inexplicable reasons the Polish government passed all the investigation to the Russian MAK commission. Over the last four years we have witnessed the intentional destruction of the wreck, unimaginable neglect and falsification of other evidence and of witness testimonies. The renowned independent scientists who analyzed the available evidence have concluded that the official Russian MAK version of the causes of the disaster is simply impossible to be true. What was very suspicious then is especially disturbing now, when the whole world knows what the Russian separatists are capable of. Therefore, making our appeal today seems to be the most reasonable action.

The satellite photographs of the Malaysian Boeing 777 passenger aircraft crash site in eastern Ukraine clearly and completely resemble the pictures from the crash site of Polish TU-154M on April 10th, 2010 near Smolensk. Today the whole world knows that it cannot trust the Russian government. When four years ago Poles demanded the establishment of an international commission to investigate the causes of that tragedy, no such committee was appointed.

We, Poles living in Canada, appeal to you to support our efforts to make up for that neglect of the past which we hope will not be encountered now with the Malaysian MH-17 aircraft.

After four years the causes of the disaster in Smolensk are still not known and the investigation conducted by the Russians is a mere mockery of the families of the victims of this tragedy. It is against democracy and in contradiction with European and Canadian standards. We are happy to learn that the Russians agreed to co-operate with the International Commission in the investigation of the Malaysian MH17 crash of July 17th, 2014. Again, please support our actions, because only through international investigation we too have a chance to learn the truth.

In this traumatic moment we can sympathize with those who lost their loved ones in the Malaysian airplane and know the pain that was caused by this criminal act. We, Poles have had four years of suffering without knowing the truth about the causes of the disaster of the government TU 154M. Please help us today in the spirit of solidarity and empathy. We owe it to all those who died on April 10th, 2010 in Smolensk. At the same time we extend our sympathies on the death of so many innocent victims shot down in Eastern Ukraine by the pro-Russian terrorists.
